Tokyo Marui Airsoft on Hand at the Tokyo Marui Festival 2024

Tokyo Marui’s annual festival;  known as the Shizuoka Hobby Show, has recently come to a close, but the team at Tokyo Marui Airsoft (https://www.tokyomaruiairsoft.com/) were on hand to get the lowdown on new releases across the show.

The event saw a range of upcoming and currently available products being highlighted, with some incredibly interesting developments coming from the company. These include a new ‘R Series’ of AEGs which are being tailored toward a younger player base. Due to this we presume the pricepoint will be a lot lower but details are due to be released. Furthermore, the SAA .45 looks like a work of art and we certainly cannot wait to get our hands on what looks to be an incredible piece of kit. Finally, the SG552 has been brought into the modern era with the SG553+!

Here is a breakdown of all the products presented at Tokyo Marui’s Shizuoka Hobby Show 2024 (62nd Edition).

A new lineup of electric rifles for age 14 and up

With the airsoft hobby gaining more and more recognition around the world, it is necessary to educate and introduce safe ‘gateway’ guns to teenagers in order to make them understand what airsoft is all about. In that respect, Tokyo Marui is currently developing a new ‘R series’ dedicated to younger shooters. The new

M4A1R and AK47R possess all the qualities of their adult counterparts, albeit with a lower muzzle energy to comply with Japanese laws. These rifles will use standard 8.4v 1300mAh batteries and adopt a standard bb weight of 0.2g to ensure accuracy and range.

Release date is undecided at this time and more details about final price and date will follow shortly after Tokyo Marui’s Shizuoka Hobby Show 2024 is completed.

A ‘High Noon’ pistol from the Wild West

Tokyo Marui has successfully introduced a new line of air revolvers in the form of the SAA .45 series. This series is now seeing more development with the future release of the SAA .45 Cavalry Custom, which is adorned with gold accents and a black finish that collectors will surely love. Its 7.5″ barrel ensures a taut trajectory during fire. Additionally, the grip finish mimicks real wood and heightens the realism of this striking model.

Tokyo Marui observes the ‘Model Gun’ market closely and as a result, it is releasing more and more legacy pistols. The new SAA. 45 Cavalry can certainly attest of this trend. While model guns (see trivia section below) can’t fire and are only designed to reproduce the features of a particular pistol, rifle or revolver, Tokyo Marui’s upcoming M1851 Navy is obviously an airsoft revolver and a such fire 0.2g BB just like any other airsoft pistol.

What are model guns in Japan? In Japan, model guns are highly detailed, non-firing replicas of real firearms, designed to mimic the look, feel, and mechanical actions of the originals without the ability to fire. They replicate weight and markings precisely, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts in a country with strict firearm regulations. These safe, realistic replicas offer a legal alternative for firearm enthusiasts in Japan.
However, for this model, Tokyo Marui went above and beyond in terms of realism and operation. Let’s see what sets this revolver apart.
Naval Battle Cylinder Scene: The engraved cylinder, depicting the 1843 Battle of Campeche between the Texan and Mexican navies, was a notable decorative feature that also served to prevent counterfeiting.
Loading Lever: The M1851 will reproduce the loading mechanism of the original weapon. This lever pushes the bullets inside the cylinder. It is also possible to load the BB’s with using the lever.

Percussion cap: to further enhance the realism of the M1851, brass (non-exploding) percussion caps have been added. The M1851 sits between the flintlock and the modern revolver. Fulminate percussion caps were placed on the cylinder to fire the bullets (called balls). Tokyo Marui wanted to fully replicate this feature.

Naturally, this model will come with a hop-up mechanism to fine tune the shooting experience. This is a single action air revolver without safety features, just like the real thing. Firing is performed by cocking the hammer and depressing the trigger. The M1851 uses complex mechanisms for which Tokyo Marui has filed patents. More details will be published as they a released

Release date and pricing is still undecided at the moment and more details will follow in the coming weeks.
