Operating out of Irwindale, California, Condor has been supplying clothing and gear to both the outdoor and tactical gear markets for well over 20 years now. Arguably the company gained some notoriety in their early years over their lousy quality control. We here at Ai HQ has seen a marked improvement in their gear and tactical clothing to the point we have featured a number of their products. These will easily stand up against any of the mid-market brands that are available to the global Airsoft community and effortlessly bridge the gap between the skirmish field and high street.
The Condor Aegis hard shell is a 100% Polyester waterproof jacket, which benefits from a large hood, spacious waterproof pockets, underarm venting zips and taped seams.
- Full front waterproof zipper with Storm-Guard flap
- Fully seam-taped waterproof hardshell jacket
- Waterproof chest pockets
- Underarm vent zippers
- Waterproof pockets
Uncharacteristically for an American company, their sizing is more in line with the Asian market and on the small side, which can cause problems with finding a perfect fit.
In Condor’s own words,
“The Condor is the largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most efficient animals on earth, beating its giant wings only a few times to reach a moderate elevation, the Condor is able to soar miles over its typical 160 mile territory to find food to eat.
Condor Outdoor Products is a mirror to Mother Nature’s great avian. Working each and every day to make our War Fighters the most efficient they can be in whatever task they take on.”
This doesn’t really tell us much, other than the company is named after a bird and that they strive to make their “War Fighters” the most effective they can be! “
Never the less their product range is pretty impressive and extensive, a “one-stop ” tactical gear outfitters. But we can’t help but think that Condor lacks direction. As they talk about “War Fighters” which to us suggests a military use. But, we could not find one single unit either here or in the US that actually issues their gear and would suggest that Condor has instead found a home in the global Airsoft community.
The Aegis feels pretty robust and will easily withstanding any punishment you can throw at it on a skirmish field or the high street. The area of concern on jackets at this price point are the taped seams, which more often than not usually fail. Interesting the Aegis seam tape is covered by the lining, which both inhibits inspection and offers protection. But after a few months of use, we can report that the seams are holding and we can’t report any leaks. We can also confirm the jackets level of waterproofing. As rain beads up immediately and runs off in a hurry.
