Fighting Against Success As we move effortlessly into yet another volume of Ai, we as publishers are holding off (as best we can) a cover price hike. Ai has now been the same price since we launched. Paper and print charges have risen, but we've done our very best to keep the cover price static, but I'm afraid to report that Ai will increase in price at some point in volume 4. You may have also noticed that Ai is now perfect bound; it's not a cosmetic thing, but a production issue, because as our print order rises, therefore our sales through increases, it's more cost effective for us to do away with the old saddle stitched version.

Are you ready?

As the historic Ai500 draws closer I have to ask are you ready to become part of Airsoft History? Our event organisers are reporting a major influx of bookings through the event website www.ai-500.com don't leave it too long to reserve your place as I wouldn't want you to be disappointed. European players need not worry about exporting your RIF's or for that matter bringing them back into the country as we have had a number of practice runs to and from the US and I'm happy to report that its been plane sailing and Virgin Atlantic in particular have been extremely helpful checking our RIF's through customs at both ends. You can catch up with our transatlantic capers in the next issue of Ai (which will be just in time for the travelling UK players to digest and transport their RIF's in the correct manner).

Vegas Baby!!

As a first time attendee to the Shot Show, to say that I was impressed would be an understatement. The show was huge, real steal parts and tac gear were oozing out of every isle, for us it was a full onslaught and sometimes overwhelming experience of the very latest Shooting extravaganza. The Airsoft Manufacturers present were on the increase, this year G&G, ICS, Systema and the US based Echo 1 were there in full effect so too were Cyber Gun and the Crossman corporation along with our good friends at Spartan Imports leading the way in high end Airsoft wholesale, plus a whole heap of smaller manufactures, which has gotta be good for our industry

Turn to page 59 and make your mark.

Seeing through rose tinted specs? I don't think so!

Almost three years on and our guiding principles haven't changed - unbiased news and reviews are still our number one priority to you the reader

I've got to start this issue off with a bit of an apology, we were scheduled to bring you a report from one of the big games here in the UK, but because of a camera failure, and the fear that the report would have been less than favourable, the site operator who originally agreed to supply the photography backtracked and refused to do so.

The future's bright, the future's ours

There's a lot of buzz around the UK airsoft industry these days. And with new retailers and sites popping up all over the place, the once feared VCR Act seems to be having a positive effect on the market.

It seems almost as if airsoft has become a forbidden fruit. A whopping 45 sites have joined UKARA and over 6000 registration forms have been downloaded from their site. In addition the Ai office has had over 5000 or so requests for the player registration form. The Ai crew are certainly becoming more active in Europe and the US this year, we'll be attending a lot more sites and events and this is where you guys can help us out - if you have an event you want us to attend, or a game on, then drop us an email and we'll make sure Ai's there.

It's Christmas!!!!!!

Looking back over an action packed year

Don't you just love this time of year? I guess it's the big kid in me. Christmas is coming and the Ai team are getting fat (well some of us are) I can't remember the last full game day I played? Some of the team would argue that's it's because I spend far to long gearing up in the safe zone, but if the truth be know I tend to spend my times these day talking to you our readers and I wouldn't change that for the world, because lets face it with out you guys Ai would not be the success it is today

Well here we are, the first of October cam and went and the VRC Bill is now the VCR act here in the UK and now its illegal for Airsoft Retailers here in the Uk to sell you an Airsoft rifle or pistol unless you are a registered Skirmisher. That also includes private sale. One forum that seems to be leading the way here in the UK is http://airsoftuk.invisionzone.com as they will soon have up and running a secure server which will only allow registered skirmishers to access where you will be able to sell and buy second hand rifles and pistols in confidence, what's more Ai have teamed up with them to offer a classified section for our readers in which we will be publishing the for sale and wants section in a special classified section in the next few issues

October 2007

Its time to get registered As the VRC Bill turns into the VRC Act on the 1st October it is vital here in the UK for Airsoft Skirmishers (you) to register at your Skirmish Site. Skirmish Sites are at the heart of the scheme, as only through membership of a legitimate Airsoft site can an individual demonstrate their entitlement to the specific defence granted to Airsoft Skirmishers The Government has determined that a 'legitimate' site is one that holds third-party insurance. This is important, because only members of a site or club with valid third party insurance can claim to be "Airsoft skirmishers" for the purposes of the defence. It is therefore vital that sites ensure that they have up-to-date third-party liability insurance before the 1st of October if they wish to register their members

CBL-tastic!

A big thank you to Ai readers for making the launch of the AiM C.B.L. an amazing success in fact it seems you guys can't get enough of 'em!

No sooner had the Gen I garments landed than they were straight out of the door, and these stocks have now become limited. (And speaking of limited stocks, the AiM IFF Patches have gone in backorder again, but another batch is winging its way to us as I type). We've ordered a new batch of CBLs, and following some great feedback from our readers, the Gen II CBL will be even more radically designed in order to further meet your needs on the skirmish field. Hundreds of you have asked if we plan to produce the CBL in ACU or Multicam and for now, I'm afraid, the answer is no. Multicam camouflage is a licensed product, and although we can buy the licence to produce it, the cost would soar dramatically defeating the object of producing a cost-effective shirt in the first place.

Don't you just love LA!

The crew attend the weekend of heroes show in l.a. and, in between meeting girls from hooters and accepting challenges to kick ass on the skirmish field, they actually meet a hero or two...

L ast month the crew jetted off to LA to fly the British Airsoft flag over at the Weekend of Heroes, and were blown away by the amount of support Ai had at what was pretty much a regional show (I can honestly say, with hand on heart, Ai has cracked the US market and there's no stopping us now). The highlight of the weekend for me was meeting the legend that is Col. Danny McKnight, although staff writer Jason seemed rather more impressed with the girls from a nearby Hooters restaurant, who took up our invitation and joined us on our stand at the show. You can turn to page 40 to see what we got up to.

And the winners are? Yes indeed the nominations for the first annual Ai reader awards have been counted and we are ready to announce the winners (turn to page 11) but before you do that I wanted to talk about mindless vandalism and the consequences. If you've been a victim you'll know what it fells like? It seems that in today's society its pretty much the norm, but when such mindless acts strikes at the heart of Airsoft community with such devastating effects it makes you sit up and take stock I'm talking about Ambush Adventures Chobham site in Surrey which was burnt to the ground. It was heart breaking watching Charlie James sifting through the ashes of the building which made up the safe zone in a desperate hope to salvage something, anything, but it was simple all gone, all that remained of some 10 years worth of hard work was the metal bases of the building, but to add insult to injury these mindless thugs had also stolen anything of value before they torched the place
