Airsoft Insurance

Zero One Airsoft in conjunction with Ground Zero Airsoft have been working closely with FML Insurance for a number of months now in order to create an insurance policy specifically designed for Airsoft.

Most current airsoft policies are based on Paintball insurance, which as I’m sure you are aware, have restraints on them that are not suitable in the world of Airsoft. This is why we set out to build the first UK Airsoft specific insurance. The aim was to build a policy that slotted right into place without unnecessary change. FPS limits set at what they already are rather than a fictional figure that looks good on paper, face protection specifications that meet the way things already operate in the real world, pyrotechnic rules that encompass specifically what is used in the world of airsoft – including gas and blank devices, cover for beverage making facilities offered by most sites – and for structures if they are well built, cover for military vehicles and site/marshal vehicles operating on site, and so on… all whilst allowing the lowest premiums in the market.

Whilst we provided the necessary experience to develop the policy, we are not on any sort of commission whatsoever; we were aware through our customer base that some policies were becoming restrictive or not offering the proper cover, and we saw an opportunity to put something together that would benefit us all. It is important that we all have the best cover possible, without unnecessary restrictions, to ensure the future of your site and our sport.

UKAPU News

Work has already begun on preparations for the 3rd UKAPU Annual General Meeting scheduled for November. At this meeting all members are given a vote to decide who should be voted in as a member of the UKAPU committee. While work has started on creating agendas and pulling together annual reports from existing committee members, there are things that you as a member can also prepare.

Firstly, if you have any topics you wish to add to the agenda for discussion by all members then these can be sent through and time will be allocated in the agenda for members to discuss whatever they feel is important. If you’d like to make a presentation to members on a particular topic then please do get in touch with our chairman or secretary via the website.

Another important part of the AGM is the committee vote. Every position is up for renewal at the AGM and any members aged 18 or over are welcome to stand for nomination. With this in mind, I’d like to inform members that our registrar, Hayden, is due to step down at the next AGM and will not be standing for re-election. We are on the lookout for a passionate and hardworking individual to manage member sign ups, registration and renewals. If you think you might have the time and dedication to take up this vital role then we would love to hear from you. Names are now being taken for members wishing to stand for election in the 2012-2013 committee so please get in touch with the chairman or secretary via the website if you would like to be considered.

If you have already joined UKAPU then we thank you – If you would like to join then annual membership costs just £5 and is available from our website www.ukapu.org.uk

Kel Tec KSG Shotgun

Think you’ve seen some tactical shotguns? Think again, the forthcoming KSG from Kel Tec is reportedly as compact as US laws allow and we think it looks awesome.

It’s going to be officially unveiled at SHOT 2012 and we cannot wait to see some airsoft replicas of this!

Check out the Kel Tec site for more information about the KSG Shotgun

SAG Gear in the UK

Airsoft World Ltd are delighted to introduce ‘SAG  -Combat Philosophy’ tactical equipment to the UK.  SAG are a Polish company who have taken a long , hard look at what is really required of slings, magazine pouches etc and then set about re-designing, and redefining tactical accessories.

The stunning simplicity and utility of the KDL double magazine pouch with a lid that doesn’t get in the way of your magazines…  The simple but incredibly effective KDS pouch, capable of securely carrying everything from a M16 magazine to an AK74 mag!  No longer do you need different pouches for different magazines and load outs!

Their MOLLE straps are flexible and easy to attach or remove, making repositioning the pouches on your vest exceptionally easy.

In addition to their fantastic pouches, SAG produce a three-point sling which is both simple and stunningly effective.  It prefers guns with two fixed sling points but a little imagination will allow it to be attached to pretty much anything!

We wait with keen anticipation to see what will emerge from SAG in the near future but we are confident that whatever it is it will be supremely fit for purpose.

The current range of SAG Gear tactical equipment can be found at www.airsoftworld.net

New UK forum online

Airsoft forums tend to come and go since they are a bit of a beast of burden, managing, maintaining and keeping them online can become a tough job, especially since users expect them to be free to use.

NitroJoe from the newly formed “Airsoft Exchange” forum dropped us a line recently to let us know about a newly formed online airsoft hub, in his own words,

“We’ve got all the features you’d expect in a Forum and few new ones like Autotrader style Classifieds, social network integration and direct links to Airsoft publications and blogs… We’re also running a competition to win an AEG, TLSFX pyros and Blaster bbs too which readers of your Blog might be interested in?”

We figured there’s a fair chance you guys would indeed be interested in that, so why not go and check it out?

Travis Hayley Talks Airsoft

One part of the famous Magpul Dynamics Training duo, Travis Hayley, talks airsoft and it’s benefits in terms of training for live fire. Surprisingly, given many US-based shooters totally dismiss the concept, Travis speaks sensibly about buying a quality gun and the additional realism you will gain. He also pushes the concept of cost saving over live fire, which is hugely significant. You think BBs are expensive? Watch the video and find out just how pricey 5.56mm can get.

Of course, Travis acknowledges the limitations of airsoft (but doesn’t mention the effect of firing from any other position but upright, which he DOES demonstrate at one point), but also praises Tokyo Marui for their recoil line of weapons, picking out features like the recoil itself and the bolt lock. I wonder what he would make of the shell ejecting TOP M4?

Ai wants YOU!

You’ve seen our “Local Loadout” pages before, it’s your chance to have a whole spread devoted to you, your kit and your airsoft, and to take part, we only need a couple of things… A full length picture of you, both front and back, and a few words about the kit you use.

The pictures

We’re not expecting masterpieces when it comes to images, unless of course you are a consummate camera man, all we need is a clear, full length shot (with your feet and head in frame) of you, from the front and the back, just like the example below. Don’t worry about any fancy photoshopping, our trained monkey does that!

The image size needs to be as large as possible, so use a dedicated camera as opposed to the one on your mobile phone. DSLR or Compact camera, it doesn’t really matter.

The words

We don’t need a huge essay from you when it comes to words, it’s just a matter of filling in the blanks really, either copy and paste the text from the bottom of the page, or download the document here.

Sending it in

When you have gathered your text and images, the next bit is simple, just attach it to an email and wing it over to us at bwebb@ai-mag.com! Easy!
